Plant Whisperer (Mutation)

Plant Whisperer is a mutation which trades niche downsides and the opportunity cost of a mutation slot for an equally niche, but rather significant, QoL improvement for crafters.

Location

Plant whisperer is located next to the Heart of the Forest in Crater Forest.

Effects

This mutation grants:

    Passive: +1 to Persuade
    Passive: 100% Pregnancy Resistance
    fertilize command: Tell a plant a pickup line, and make it yield fruit.

Advantages

• +1 Persuade. A minor and relatively useless buff that aids the main mutation ability.
• Plantwhispery. Fucking a plant is a persuasive check; on success, the plant spawns a fresh set of fruit (with quantity dependent on how well one did at the check) and then enters an approximately-one-IRL-hour-long refractory period. Succeeding on the check is usually trivial given sufficient bling, but high persuasion totals generally improve the yield.
  • If the plant is in season, it is best to harvest it, wait for the next heartbeat for it to refill (it rustles gently), harvest it again, and only then fertilize it, which allows you to get three batches of fruit.
  • You can also fertilize plants that are out-of-season and would otherwise be empty; plant whisperers can ignore the almanac and get a steady stream of tomatoes whenever the Samsara they damn want. This is extremely convenient for rejuvex and enhanced endocrine boosters.

• Stupid plisper tricks. Bug egg nests count as plants, for the implacable plasteel enthusiasts with carry weight to spare.
• THE SUN THE SUN THE SUN TH Plant Whisperers get their revival sickness healed when in sunlight. Notable edge case: If one has flight, "above the clouds when the sun is up" counts as sunlight.
• Synergizes with Solar Sponge for hunger restoration. Very minor hunger restoration.
• Sap Cum. Sap stains increase Climb for the stained individual. If one has a penis, one suddenly becomes the easiest source of sap with which to leverage this feature.
• Plant friendship? Supposedly, being a Plant Whisperer means some plant enemies are less likely to grapple or call for help when attacked. Allegedly.

Disadvantages

• Can't get pregnant.
• Minor weather-sicknesses, ostensibly? These have been very severely downtuned in Samsara, to the point where it's once-in-a-lifetime occurence. But inclement weather is allegedly supposed to afflict a plant whisperer with symptoms syndrome.
• Opportunity cost. For many people, this mutation effectively doesn't do anything. All of its upsides are niche enough that they might never come up.
• One with the Heart of the Forest. The Heart screams when fought. This is incredibly stressful for a plant whisperer.
