Chiller is a focus mutation that's mutually exclusive with Carrie and Solar Sponge. Its main draw is the combat ability it grants, which gives high-level Focus users the ability to debuff and damage opponents.
Location
North of the entrance to Fort Griam, which is northeast of Weezer Dam.
Effects
Passive: +1 Cool Passive: -5 degrees body temperature. Passive: Gain stress when hot. freeze command: freeze enemies for damage and debuffs. freeze can also be used to preserve items in ice.
Mechanics
Players with the "Chiller" mutation can utilize the freeze <target> command on either an enemy (while in combat) or on items. When utilized on an enemy, it applies a strong Reflexes debuff and also damages them, at the cost of stress and 1 HP.
Using the freeze command on an item encases it in a block of ice, stopping the rotting timer until the ice block melts, but this adds 1kg of weight to the object.
Advantages
- +1 Cool. A very minor stat bonus.
- Chill debuff. Freezing your opponents debuffs them - at 25 stacks (~2 attacks on high focus), the target receives -6 Reflexes and inflict cold damage each heartbeat (12+ is easily possible), as well as decaying very sllowly.
- Freezing things. You can freeze most objects, but the most useful is freezing food or perishable crafting parts, but this is relatively worthless due to the next point.
- Antifreeze vomit. You can vomit on objects and mobs to coat them with antifreeze. Coat a container with enough antifreeze and it will store perishables forever, better than kidney cooler. Vomiting on mobs cools them down in hot weather, allowing you to avoid being debuffed by heat.
- Synergy with Yeti Fur. Yeti Fur provides about +10 effective focus for freeze in combat.
Disadvantages
- Stiff focus requirements. About 35+ Focus is optimal, more make freeze attacks more powerful.
- Cannot get Carrie or Solar sponge.
- Stress when hot. This ranges from about 5 at 28°C to over 150 at 260°C. This can be countered by vomiting yourself, chugging water, wearing dishdashas, or wearing a hostile environment suit.
Appearance
This mutation will add a line to your description: His/Her/Its breath condensates in the air.
Your vomiting message will also be changed: SamsaraRocks! projectile vomits a green liquid all over you.
Should you vomit (or suffer an abdomen hit) without having anything to throw up, your gag message will be different: SamsaraRocks! gags and small ice crystals form around his mouth.
Finally, should you vomit your special goop onto anyone or yourself, it will look different from normal vomit: SamsaraRocks! is completely coated in half-digested goo and a steaming substance.
