Nimble Fingers

Nimble Fingers is a mutation that boosts Reflexes and some brainy skills at the cost of Endurance and beat soak.

Location

Nimble Fingers is located in the Sub-Sewers beneath Freedom city, behind the bug queen. Combat builds over 5k total XP rarely have trouble with her, though she does have a special attack. Beyond her, arachnos lurk in the sub-sewers, which are much more dangerous and must be avoided. To reach the mutation tile in the sub-sewers, go north from the entrance, ignore the first turning west, and then keep west while going north.

Effects

This mutation grants:

    Passive: +1 to Locksmith
    Passive: +1 to Craft
    Passive: +2 to Reflexes
    Passive: -2 to Endurance
    Passive: - 3-1 to beat protection
    massage ability: use Medic skill to destress targets.

Advantages

• +2 Reflexes. This translates to +1 dodge and (for many but not all builds) +1 to weapon skill, and also contributes to melee weapon speed.
• +1 Craft and Locksmith. These are small but useful buffs for brainy builds, and also assist combat builds with crafting planes endgame.
• Gives the ability to massage without a massage table or getting Empath. Massaging someone destresses them, and also gives medic IP. This is not useful, because there are so many better ways to remove stress; it's mostly a flavor function.

Disadvantages

• -2 Endurance. Endurance is a strong stat; this reduces a mutant's ability to use drugs safely, use focus, and resist everything from radiation poisoning to knockouts. This also means it's a contentious pick for Fists and Spears; the former will lose a point of skill and the latter will get a zero net gain, though both will find it easier to speedcap their weapons.
• Negative 3-1 beat soak. Beat is a very common damage type with brutal crit effects, making this disadvantage dangerous in PvP and against certain mobs, especially junkers. Many nimble-fingered players take High Density to offset this.
• Can't take any of the ripperlikes. This also means that Nimble Fingers is incompatible with Abomination.
